Time travel, seeing double, and feeling the heat

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Kriya Yoga course started this morning in Rickia. We were all told to sleep nice and early yesterday (7:30pm). Swami Satsangi said the most restful sleep occurs *before* midnight. That’s interesting. Anyways, I did sleep quite early and had some very unique dreams during the early morning hours.

I woke up. It was extremely bright. I thought I’d overslept. I went outside and it was very hot. Felt like a classic, intense summer day. Then someone told me it was only 5:30am. I don’t ever recall feeling heat so vividly before in a dream.

I am in an elevator. It is changing and warping in non-symetrical ways. When the door finally opens, I become the witness. Kamesh walks in and tells Kamesh (who is the person in the elevator, who I thought was me) that it’s pretty futurisitic out there and to be careful of something. I remember clearly noting the double Kamesh effect and the reference to the future.

With earlier bed times, I look forward to having more dream time and trying some dream practices again.

I was the Flying Swami!

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Had a lucid dream two nights ago. Woke up 38 minutes past midnight. After using restroom, felt rested so I put on Sw. Niranjan’s adv. yoga nidra. Stayed about 95% awake/alert. Went to sleep and then became aware I was dreaming. Outside scene. Effort to bring night horizon into focus. There was a star I think. Began to fly pretty fast. I was not in control of direction just awareness and perception of scene. Idea that I was was the flying swami became vivid.

Auspicious dreams, start of last course

I’m in Mangrove Creek, Australia right now – in the state of New South Wales (NSW). The Satyananda Yoga Academy here offers an excellent course in Yogic Studies and Satyananda Teacher Training. The last course in the 3 year curriculum started today!

It’s really neat to listen to insight from some very experience teachers. We’re going through classes with them trying to role play as a student while remaining aware of there teaching style and approach. Every few minutes I forget I’m role playing and actually get caught up in the whole act – a lot like the theory of how a soul gets caught up in the human experience.

We had a full moon havan last night which ended with chanting 108 names of Shiva. During the night, I had a spectacular dream of a conscious, flying Shiva lingam. At various points it was glowing with white light or melting, all the while flying around in conscious patterns. Seeing vivid dreams is always a strong reminder that the ability to visualize is latent. Cultivating the ability to visualize in a conscious state and to a high degree of detail has been (and continues to be) a long term project in self-development.

Back to homework for now…
